JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ...

This was another boxer who was always exciting to watch. He knew how to put guys away and did it often.
To the head, to the body and then, back to the head, nobody did it better! All the head hunters in the UFC could learn something from him, for sure.

Blast From The Past...

Remember these things? Many years ago, we built a couple of them and this is one of them. It came in last week for service and a new battery. I hadn't really seen this thing for quite a while. While giving it the once-over, I noticed the tail light, witch of course, I haven't seen for a while either. It's nothing really special and pretty simple but we made. Spun on a lathe and fit with a modified early impala tail light lens. It was one of the things we did on bikes we built. We made quite a few of them, too. Each one was different, some better than others but all made in the shop and actually a fun process.

Chris' CFL Project

This bike comes in the shop whenever Chris has too much going on to work on it himself. This time around he just wanted to get holes drilled in the right places for all of his wiring and hydraulic lines. This is his first build and just wasn't exactly sure about the routing so, we helped him out with that. Anyway, he's doing a great job with it. I especially like the small rear fender and the exhaust system they made for it. Now, he's ready to rip apart and get set for final assembly. Nice work, Chris.

Craig's List FXR Deal Of The Year...

This bike popped up on Craig's List a few weeks ago for what I thought was a great deal at 14k. We gave it a bit of a face lift and squared away a few issue. This is how it looked when it left us. I was able to put some time on it and, it was really something else. A 124"  S&S motor is one thing in a chopper chassis but, something all together different in this chassis, great bike. Anyway, a few people called the shop asking if I thought it was worth the money. Are you kidding me! I don't think you could buy half the parts used to build it for 14Gs. Does anyone know who ended up with it?

Mike Tyson..

Once upon a time, before the rise of the UFC, when you talked  fight-night, this was the guy you hoped would be on the card. These are clips from some of his early fights, before he became Heavyweight Champion of the World. I was lucky enough to see these fights happen and the rise of Mike Tyson. It was a truly exiting time for the world of boxing. If you were a fight fan back then, you know what I'm talking about.
Though his life has since unraveled, you have to respect the great things he did in the ring to become the Champ.

Harley Davidson Dyna Face Lift Pt.2

Johns 1995 Dyna is ready to hit the the streets. It came in as a Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man tribute bike. That sheet metal with the cards painted on the tank fetched enough on e-bay to start from scratch. We also got rid of the wide-glide forks and super short rear shocks and forward controls too.
This time around it got a set of Rev-Tech wheels with matching rotors and pulley, witch are actually made by     Performance Machine. We also went with PM  brakes front and rear and a PM air cleaner. An Arlen Ness Faring, dual disc 39mm narrow-glide forks, Works Performance shocks and a chrome Thunder Header also made their way onto the bike. Check it out...

Arthur Fulmer Limited Edition Hemets

These are pretty cool. The "Arthur Fulmer"  limited edition opef face by Fulmer Helmets. The shell size is very small, compared to most other modern DOT helmets and the quality is outstanding. Notice the original 1969 Fulmer logo on the box. They're only making 1000 of each color and each helmet is numbered.
Available now at Top Shelf Customs 714-903-8042

Wow!!!

These first two bike are near the top of my list of favorite bikes built in recent years. I think the first one was built by Josh Mills a few years back. And the Sportster by Cro Customs not quite that long ago.
The other two come from Nice Motorcycles in Japan, they have built a bunch of bike s hat are very easy on the eyes. These are a couple of my favorites from them. Inspiring work for sure...

The Forty Eight Tank Project

The Fort Eight come stock with a great tank but we though we would try something a little different. This was a 4.5 gal tank for an XL1200 Custom. I like the shape of these tanks a lot but always thought they were a little too wide. This really changed the look of it quite a bit. Still a lot of work to do though...

The Nightster Solo Seat Update...

The seat for Ryan's Nightster made it's way back from the upholstery shop on Friday. Since the bike has shocks, we mounted it without seat springs. That way, we were able to get the seat to sit a lot closer to the frame. He was stoked with the finished product. Thanks again, Ryan

L.A. County Chop Rods

Stopped by LA County Chop Rods on Monday to pick up the ISR controls for the Forty Eight and got a glimpse of Gards latest project. He calls it the KR GT and as you can see, it's complicated but spectacular! Check it out...

It's Sportster Week At Top Shelf

The Sportster projects are coming at us this week. We're getting started on Sergeos  Paughco framed XL1200.  He's going with a really nice narrow springer from Acme Choppers, spoked wheels and a bunch of Performance Machine trinkets.
Of course, the Forty Eight is an ongoing deal. The ISR hand controls are in and  complement the rest of the handle bar arrangement.
Then, we have Ryan's black 2012 Nightster . It's getting a set of Top Shelf Customs SST Short Handlebars, in black. And if you look close, you can see the tabs for his new potato chip style solo seat. We should get the seat pan back from the upholstery shop today. He went with black diamond tuck with silver piping, should really cool.

The Harley-Davidson Forty Eight Project Gets Some Top Shelf Merchant-dise

You're looking at the new Speed Merchant  handlebars on top of Top Shelf Customs OS (off set) risers. The combo worked perfect for our set up and the riding position feels great. If you're familiar with the Forty Eights, you can see that we have changed the top triple tree. This one if from a 2012 Sportster 1200 Custom, and allows us to use a standard type of riser.  And, poking out of the top of the new tree is another go-to product from The Speed Merchant, their 39mm fork, preload adjusters. Stick around, it's going together.

I"ll Bet You Could Find Some Trouble On These...

I picked up the frame to build the blue CFL at the customers office in East L.A. but, dropped off the finished project to his garage. Since I had never been there, I didn't really know what to expect. Well, other than the finding our grey CFL in there, he had these two bikes. Looks like fun...
